I was pleased to attend the Trade to Teach Working Group meeting recently at the invitation of Assistant Education Minister and Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga who chairs the working group.

The group was established last year by Education Minister Grace Grace to consider strategies to attract tradespeople who want to teach in Queensland schools.

After initial presentations from the Queensland College of Teachers, the Department of Education and school staff, working group members were given the opportunity to provide feedback on what more could be done to address the Industrial Technology and Design teacher shortage and the role of stakeholders in achieving this.
